In 1642,he was appointed as governor of Shanxi, and was honored with the Minister of the Board of War to govern militaryof seven provinces, crushed the revolt. In 1643,at the age of 51,he died in the war inTongguan, Shanxi. The Ming History said: Chuanting died, the Ming dynasty fell.
